Maggie Wheeler, from "Friends", celebrates Brazilian fans on her first visit to the country
Bringing one of the most famous catchphrases on TV and the most peculiar laugh, actress Maggie Wheeler, 64, arrived in Brazil for the first time for the launch of Quem Disse, Berenice?'s new makeup line. inspired by "Friends", one of the most popular series in the world - and which launched her to stardom.
Maggie Wheeler attended a launch event for the line and, in a press conference accompanied by CNN Brasil, commented on the love from fans and the lasting success of "Friends", which aired between 1994 and 2004, with ten seasons.
"The fans' affection for this series, especially here in Brazil, fills me with joy. It's very moving to see how important it is to Brazilian fans, who, over the years, have written to me telling me how much they love the series and how much it means to them," she said.
"I think this is an impact that's happening all over the world. Once again, the show makes people feel a connection, it makes them feel less alone. And everyone needs to laugh."
For her, the "simplicity" of the work is a key point for years of success among new and old viewers.
"I get a lot of questions about what makes this series remain so relevant, going through the years and conquering new generations and new audiences. And I always think about the simplicity of the series: there are no cell phones, there are no social networks. It's just people living with each other, and that's something that, in many ways, we've all forgotten how to do", he commented.
"It doesn't matter if we're older or younger, our lives have changed a lot since then. So I feel like the show reminds us what it's like to just be in each other's company. And we all need that, we all respond to that. I think friendship, support, love, a sense of community and a sense of belonging are things that everyone wants to relearn how to cultivate and feel again."
Finally, she celebrated the collection, which was co-created with "Friends" fans.
"Being able to get back into such close contact with fans through this collaboration is a wonderful opportunity. This is really the first time I've seen something like this, and I'm so happy to be able to support this initiative and be a part of it. The meaning the series has for me, the impact it's had on my life, and what I know it means to other people - because they write to me and tell me this - is a gift."
Coming with Quem Disse, Berenice?
With an appeal to nostalgia, the brand Quem Disse, Berenice?, in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products, launched an unprecedented collection with products co-created with fans of the series, who directly participated in choices such as colors, fragrances, textures and visual references present in the products.
The collection brings together several Easter eggs and classic elements from the universe of Rachel, Ross, Monica, Chandler, Joey and Phoebe, transforming the production's notable moments into collectible items.
One of the big highlights is the palette inspired by the legendary Central Perk sofa. The packaging has a similar shape to the most famous cafe on TV and works as a support for other products in the line.
Another detail that caught the attention of fans were the multifunctional sticks inspired by characters from the series. Each item received colors and pendants related to one of the six friends in the group.
In addition to makeup, the collection also includes accessories and skincare with references to the series. The toiletry bag, for example, features charms inspired by classic symbols from the plot, while the moisturizer references the song "I'll Be There For You", the series' opening theme.
The collection is now available for purchase on Quem Disse, Berenice's official website and physical stores.
