Lula: if they play with their hearts in their boots, we will have a great World Cup

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) stated, this Friday (12), that if the Brazilian team plays "with its heart on the tip of its boot", the team led by Italian Carlo Ancelotti will be able to carry out a great campaign in the tournament.

"Brazil has all the conditions. The players need to be aware of the responsibility they have," said Lula in a live broadcast made on the Chief Executive's social networks. "They [the players] don't just play for themselves. They play for millions of young Brazilians who were born poor and didn't have the opportunities they had," he added.

For Lula, if the 26 led by Ancelotti "play with their hearts and for the Brazilian people, I'm sure we'll have a great World Cup."

The Brazilian team debuts at the 2026 World Cup at 7pm (Brasília time) this Saturday (13). The team faces Morocco at the MetLife Stadium, in New Jersey, in the United States.

During a meeting in Brasília on Wednesday (10), Lula offered a guess for tomorrow's clash. According to him, if Brazil defeats the African squad "by zero, that's good".

"I want Brazil to win. If they win half to zero, that's good. But I think Brazil will win, okay?", he declared at the time.

Brazil is in Group C of the competition, alongside Haiti and Scotland. For the first time in the history of the almost century-old tournament, the World Cup has three host countries: USA, Mexico and Canada.
