Lula cites "chemistry" and says he is "waiting for a call" from Trump

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) stated, this Tuesday (2), that he is awaiting a call from the American president, Donald Trump, to clarify the proposal for a new tariff.

The USTR (United States Trade Representative) recommended the imposition of 25% tariffs on all imports from Brazil.

Lula recalled the American president's speech about chemistry between the heads of state and said that the announcement is not in line with what was agreed at the last meeting of the presidents, in May.

"So, Trump, here's the thing, man: You said you created chemistry between you and me. It wasn't you and me who announced this", he declared at the inauguration of the Catalão University Hospital (GO). "This agreement cannot have your consent, because we both agreed on 30 days to have a response on what we proposed," he said.

The Brazilian president also stated that Trump must have a meeting to explain what happened between their "absence" in the negotiations.

"You owe me a meeting and I owe you one. Because we gave our ministers 30 days to negotiate. So, I'm waiting for a call from you to explain to me what happened in your absence and in my absence", said Lula.
