Corinthians said goodbye to the 2026 LNF Cup in the round of 16 after being defeated by São Lourenço 4 x 1, on Saturday afternoon (13), in Santa Catarina. The black and white team came out ahead in the confrontation, but suffered a turnaround in the second stage and ended up eliminated from the national competition.

After the match, goalkeeper Lucas Oliveira evaluated Timão's performance and highlighted that the team had a good first half, but was unable to transform the opportunities created into a greater advantage on the scoreboard. For the player, the equalizer ended up changing the scenario of the match.

"We conceded a goal from a deflected free kick, we were a bit unlucky. We ended up leaving the game, but we still created some opportunities, although less than in the first half. Maybe, if we had managed to kill the game in the first half, this wouldn't have happened", he began in an interview with LNFTV.

Corinthians opened the scoring with the last play of the first half. After a free kick, Rick received the pivot and finished from medium distance. Goalkeeper Serjão tried to save, but ended up sending the ball into his own goal.

At the break, São Lourenço reacted quickly and equalized after six minutes, with a free kick deflected by winger Papagaio. Shortly afterwards, Pedro Henrique scored the Santa Catarina team's second goal. In the final moments, with Corinthians using the goalkeeper in search of a draw, the home team took advantage of the spaces and expanded with Serjão and Thauan.

In addition to being eliminated in the LNF Cup, Corinthians is going through a period of pressure in the National Futsal League (LNF). The team currently occupies 13th place, outside the knockout classification zone, and has five points in the competition.

Lucas Oliveira commented on the phase the club is going through, highlighted the commitment of the squad and stated that the group will continue working to reverse the situation.

"It's difficult, because no one wants to live in this situation. We are doing everything we can to get Corinthians out of this moment. We were betting a lot on this Cup, just as we have always bet on the National League. Of course, the Cup was the shortest way - not the easiest - to win a title, as it has fewer games, and guarantee a place in the Super Cup.

It's complicated, because Corinthians, this shirt, doesn't deserve to be where it is. But I promise the fans and our families that we will work day and night. There is no lack of dedication here. We have faith in our work and faith in God that things will change", he commented.

With the new LNF regulations, the situation in the table requires attention. The 14th place team at the end of the first phase will compete in a playoff against the third place team from LNF Silver for a place in the elite in 2027, while the bottom two in the general classification will be directly relegated.

After the final whistle, coach Fernando Malafaia got involved in an argument in the gym. The coach showed irritation with the refereeing and with members of the opposing bench, needing to be restrained by police officers present at the scene. Lucas Oliveira minimized the episode and stated that situations like this are part of the competitive environment of the sport.

"What happened afterwards is part of the game. There was another situation, another speech, but that happens in a match. It's normal", he concluded.

Now, Corinthians turns its attention to the Paulista Futsal Championship. The next appointment will be on Tuesday (16), at 8pm, against MX7 Diadema, at Ginásio Parque Celso Daniel, for the sixth round of the state competition.

Timão currently occupies second place in Paulista, with 13 points won, one less than São José, leader with seven matches played.
