"Look at the size of it here" the phrase was said by a researcher when he found a jacket at the bottom of the ocean, more precisely at a depth of almost three thousand meters.

The outburst comes after the piece of clothing was found, this Saturday (13), as trash during a scientific expedition to explore the bottom of the sea.

"At 3,000 meters deep and 1,700 kilometers off the Brazilian coast, in what would be one of the last untouched refuges on the planet, we found a blouse and a can of drink", says professor Ronaldo Christofoletti, from Unifesp and member of the expedition on the Schmidt Ocean Institute research vessel.

The images were taken at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, scientists hoped to reveal an unknown world for the first time, but reality confirmed the presence of waste dumped by humans.

Expedition from the depths
The scientific expedition "Turbidity currents in the Amazon Canyon: impacts on the seabed, benthic ecosystems and carbon flow", in free translation, carried out on the research vessel Schmidt Ocean Institute aims to investigate underwater processes that are still poorly understood and their role in the formation of the deep ocean.

The researchers also want to answer fundamental questions about the activities of the Amazon Canyon, a geological formation on the Brazilian coast, in the north of the country.

The material was removed by ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle), a type of underwater drone that assists the ship during research on the ocean floor.
