Forward Vitinho, who is in the final year of his contract with Corinthians, is looking to regain his place at the club after the World Cup break - from June 11th to July 19th - to show that he deserves a contract renewal at the end of the current season. Since the arrival of Fernando Diniz as coach, at the beginning of April, the number 11 has been on the field in just three matches and accumulated 149 minutes on the field.
The games in which the 32-year-old player has played since the change in the technical area were: Platense, from Argentina (11 minutes, came off the bench), Barra-SC (75 minutes, came off the bench) and Vasco da Gama (63 minutes, started as a starter). The last time he entered the field was on April 26th, when Alvinegro beat the São Januário team, 1 x 0, at Neo Química Arena.

On April 30, he was on the bench in the 1-1 draw against Peñarol-URU, away from home, in the group stage of the Conmebol Libertadores, but did not enter the field. He was later diagnosed with a hip injury, followed by a strain in the obturator muscle of his right hip and, since then, he has not had minutes since recovering in the medical department.
Vitinho was signed by Corinthians in August 2025, free of charge, after spells at Al-Ettifaq (2022/2023 to 2024/2025) and Al-Shabab (2023/2024 - loan), under the approval of coach Dorival Júnior, who at the time commanded Timão and had already worked with the athlete at Flamengo in 2018. With the shirt Corinthians, there are one goal and four assists in 38 games (13 as a starter) in a period marked by some physical problems and fluctuations, which prevents him from establishing himself as a starter for the team.
His only goal for Corinthians came on February 22, 2026, when, in stoppage time, he scored a great goal that took the match against Portuguesa, in Canindé, in the quarter-finals of the Campeonato Paulista, to penalties. That day, the Parque São Jorge club qualified for the semi-finals after Hugo Souza was decisive.
In addition to the hip injury, Vitinho also suffered an injury to the meniscus of his right knee in October last year. He was sidelined for just over a month. For Corinthians, he was part of the victories of the Copa do Brasil (2025) and Supercopa do Brasil (2026), against Vasco da Gama and Flamengo, respectively. The player also has experience with: Botafogo (where he was revealed), CSKA Moscow (Russia), Internacional and Flamengo.
Corinthians, according to ge.globo, will return to training at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava with a view to resuming the season on June 25th. On July 12th, Timão should play a friendly against FC Cascavel, in Paraná. Officially, Alvinegro will only return to play in the week of July 22nd, when they will host Remo, at the Neo Química Arena, in the last round of the first round of the Brasileirão.
