Lívia Andrade suffers from "the worst pain in the world"
In March, presenter Lívia Andrade told her followers that she was diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia, after having an intense pain crisis.

"It's the worst pain I've felt in my life. It hurts everything at the same time: head, close to the eye, all the teeth (on one side), the jaw, ear, radiates to the throat, a part of the tongue and the roof of the mouth", said the presenter in Instagram stories.

Trigeminal neuralgia is characterized by chronic facial pain and specifically affects the trigeminal nerve of the face, responsible for chewing and sensitivity. The condition is called the "worst pain in the world" and can last for months and be disabling, that is, preventing the patient from carrying out their professional and social activities.

According to the MSD Manual, a medical reference published by the pharmaceutical company Merck & Co., the cause of trigeminal neuralgia is the abnormal positioning of an artery that compresses the trigeminal nerve. This compression leads to sharp, intense pain in the lower part of the face, which may affect just one side of the face or both.

In some cases, trigeminal neuralgia may be a consequence of nerve damage caused by multiple sclerosis. In rare situations, the condition is the result of a tumor that compresses the trigeminal nerve.
