Liter of ethanol reaches R$ 4.26, lowest value in a year, says Velope/Fipe

The national average price of hydrated ethanol reached R$4.26 in the second week of June, the lowest level since July 2025, according to data from the Veloe Fuel Price Monitor, prepared with technical support from Fipe (Fundação Instituto de Pesquisas Econômicas).

After rising in recent months, when a liter reached R$ 4.80, biofuel continues on a sharp downward trend due to the advance of the sugar cane harvest in the Center-South region, the report showed.

In the researchers' assessment, the sequence of declines favors the position of ethanol compared to fossil fuels, which have had their prices most impacted by the conflict in the Middle East since the beginning of the year.

The biggest drops were observed in Tocantins (-R$ 0.17), Pernambuco (-R$ 0.14) and Mato Grosso (-R$ 0.13), which reinforces the trend of reducing prices in important consumer and producer markets.

On the other hand, prices in Piauí (R$ 0.17) and the Federal District (R$ 0.16). On the national average, hydrated ethanol prices at the pump fell by R$0.07.

According to the research, prices in the coming weeks will depend on the pace of the sugar-energy harvest, fuel supply conditions and the behavior of international oil prices.

In Veloe's assessment, the advancement of the sugarcane harvest will help ethanol prices remain at lower levels, seen in mid-2025.
