Lindbergh wants to include US decision on factions in action against Eduardo
Federal deputy Lindbergh Farias (PT) asked the STF (Supreme Federal Court) this Saturday (30) that the United States' decision to classify the PCC (Primeiro Comando da Capital) and the CV (Comando Vermelho) as terrorist organizations be incorporated - as a new fact - into the process in which former deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro is involved.
The PT member's request comes in the wake of investigations that investigate the son of former president Jair Bolsonaro, for alleged coercion against Brazilian authorities.
For the deputy, the American action reinforces the connection between the international activities of Eduardo Bolsonaro, Flávio Bolsonaro, Jair Bolsonaro and journalist Paulo Figueiredo with an alleged attempt to pressure Brazilian institutions and hinder international criminal cooperation.
According to Lindbergh, the classification of factions was intended to disrupt ongoing financial investigations and prevent transparency about the case.
Assessment of the governing base
In the deputy's assessment, by framing organized crime under anti-terrorism legislation, certain procedures may migrate from traditional criminal cooperation to mechanisms linked to national security and intelligence in the United States, which operate under more restrictive rules on access to information.
"The request to classify PCC and Comando Vermelho as terrorist organizations, in this context, has a double dimension. On the one hand, it impacts national sovereignty, as it allows a foreign State to project onto Brazilian territory, companies, financial institutions, people and public policies the legal logic of its own anti-terrorism legislation. On the other hand, it can directly affect international criminal cooperation, as it shifts ordinary investigations into money laundering, criminal organizations and financial crimes to intelligence structures, national security and expanded secrecy", stated the deputy.
The thesis presented by Lindbergh is that members of Jair Bolsonaro's political environment were trying to make it difficult for Brazilian authorities to track financial resources that would have financed Eduardo's activities.
The petition also maintains that the mobilization of a foreign government to impose sanctions and tariffs against Brazilian authorities and institutions would represent an affront to the national sovereignty and self-determination of the Brazilian State.
Action in the STF and investigations
Eduardo responds to an action in the STF after being accused of articulating, in the United States, sanctions against Brazil and members of Brazilian institutions in 2025.
He has been in North American territory since February 2025 and, according to the complaint, he had acted in the country to interfere in the trial of his father, Jair Bolsonaro, for an attempted coup d'état.
Last week, Lindbergh had already requested the expansion of the investigation to include senator Flávio Bolsonaro and former president Jair Bolsonaro.
The deputy argues that there is evidence that Daniel Vorcaro - owner of Banco Master and target of investigations into alleged financial fraud - would have financed the production of a film about Jair Bolsonaro, but the money would have been diverted to pay for Eduardo Bolsonaro's stay and activities in the United States.
Case rapporteur, Minister Alexandre de Moraes forwarded the request to expand the investigation to the Attorney General's Office for comment.
The new petition presented by Lindbergh this Saturday, therefore, seeks to add new elements to the analysis being conducted by the PGR before it sends its final position on expanding the investigation.
