Leonardo mocks an employee's request for time off during the World Cup: "Are you going to play?"
Leonardo has been making waves on social media after being asked by one of his employees about taking time off when the Brazilian team is on the field at the World Cup.
The conversation was recorded by Poliana Rocha, the singer's wife, and posted on her social media.
In the video, Poliana asks the employee to repeat what she had asked the singer. "I asked him if I should come to the national team games, right?".
"I told her that only if Ancelotti [Selection coach] has called you up, you don't need to come. Are you going to play by chance? You have to come, boy, you don't play", replies the singer.
"And how am I going to drink at game time?", she replies. "Drink during the game, then you have to work."
Does Brazil give the right to time off on game days?
According to Labor Laws, departure days from Brazil are not considered national or religious holidays. Therefore, contractors are not required by law to interrupt activities.
Article 70 of the law states that: "Except for the provisions of articles 68 and 69, work on national holidays and religious holidays is prohibited, in accordance with specific legislation."
However, this also does not prevent them from giving the team's match days as a day off for their workers, or interrupting activities during the 90 minutes of the match.
