Leila Pereira confirms stepson's negotiations for Vasco's SAF
Leila Pereira, president of Palmeiras, confirmed that her stepson, Marcos Faria Lamacchia, is negotiating the purchase of SAF from Vasco.
Despite this, the Alviverde representative made a point of highlighting that she is not involved in the process and that Marcos has a business life independent of his father, José Roberto Lamacchia, founder of Banco Crefisa, and husband of Leila Pereira.
"My stepson is negotiating with Vasco. He has his own business, he doesn't work with us, he is totally independent. He is a very correct person", he stated in an interview with Globo News.
Any club that has my stepson as owner, I think it would be a great deal for the club. Because a Brazilian person, whose assets are in Brazil, has the financial capacity to build any club. So I think it's a great deal for the club, but it's still in negotiations, so I'm not getting involved. That's his business.
Leila Pereira, president of Palmeiras, about Marcos Faria Lamacchia
As for herself, Leila left her future open. With her second term at the helm of Palmeiras coming to an end in December 2027, the director said she would not go to another club for now, but that she does not rule out buying a team.
"I wouldn't go to another club. Not for now. But in the future, I'll tell you something, I believe in corporate clubs. Maybe in the future I'll be the owner of a club. You know? Look what a spectacle. You don't need to ask for a vote. I don't have that patience anymore", said Leila.
Marcos Lamacchia and SAF do Vasco
Marcos Faria Lamacchia would be negotiating the purchase of SAF do Vasco since the end of 2025 with Pedrinho, president of the club.
The 47-year-old businessman was born from a former marriage between José Roberto Lamacchia and Junia Faria, daughter of banker Aloysio de Andrade Faria, who was included in Forbes magazine's list of billionaires. Aloysio passed away in 2020.
Vasco's SAF is currently divided into three parts: 30% of the shares belong to the associative club. Another 31% is under the umbrella of 777 Partners, the company that acquired the stake in 2022.
The remaining 39% are under dispute in an arbitration court. For Cruzmaltino to negotiate this share, an agreement or a court decision favorable to Vasco would be necessary.
