Lawyers and leaders of CV, BDM and TCP are arrested in operation in Bahia
Lawyers and leaders of criminal factions were arrested in an operation by security forces in Bahia, this Friday morning (3). The targets were members of the CV (Comando Vermelho), BDM (Bonde do Maluco) - known for its alliance with the PCC (Primeiro Comando da Capital) - and TCP (Terceiro Comando Puro).
Investigations indicate that the lawyers, abusing their prerogatives of secrecy, had circumvented the isolation and incommunicability with the external environment imposed in a maximum security prison, to enable the management of criminal factions by their imprisoned leaders. They transmitted messages, helped to consolidate decisions and monitor criminal activities.
22 arrest warrants were served, 12 against criminals already in custody. Ten lawyers were targeted: nine were arrested and one was not located and is on the run. The identities of those investigated were not revealed.
The "Sintonia de Gravata" operation also carried out 15 search and seizure warrants issued by the 1st Criminal Court of the District of Eunápolis, with investigations in the municipalities of Serrinha, Salvador, Camaçari, Barreiras, Feira de Santana and Lauro de Freitas. Laptops, cell phones and various documents were seized that could contribute to further investigations and identify the possible participation of others involved.
The Court also determined the unavailability of financial assets of those under investigation, up to a minimum limit of R$ 10 million, in addition to the blocking of vehicles, real estate, vessels and aircraft of those under investigation, with the aim of preventing the movement of resources linked to illicit activities.
The "Sintonia de Gravata" action is an integrated operation of the Public Ministry of the State of Bahia with Seap (Secretary of Penitentiary Administration), the SSP (Secretary of Public Security) and the Civil Police. The name refers to the nomenclature given to internal divisions of criminal factions (tuning), which in this case is made up of "ties", referring to organized crime lawyers.
Investigation
According to the prosecutors of Gaeco (Special Action Group to Combat Criminal Organizations), the investigations identified the activities of structured criminal factions with regional operations, responsible for the practice of drug trafficking, circulation of firearms and coordination between criminal groups, with direct repercussions on public security in Bahia.
The elements gathered indicate that the CV, the BDM and the TCP maintained a sophisticated clandestine communication scheme that allowed criminal activities to continue even with leaders in custody in a maximum security prison unit, through an external nucleus responsible for intermediating the transmission of orders between imprisoned members and members at large.
This flow of communication allowed the leaders of the factions, even prisoners, to participate in the management of drug trafficking, the sale of narcotics, the acquisition and circulation of firearms, the movement of financial resources and the resolution of internal conflicts, demonstrating an organized, hierarchical structure divided by functions.
The group managed to circumvent isolation mechanisms provided for in the prison system, maintaining an active network for transmitting orders that contributed to the continuity of criminal practices and the strengthening of these organizations.
