The secrecy policy adopted by Croatia during the 2026 World Cup would have resulted in the dismissal of an employee at the hotel where the European team is staying, in Alexandria, in the Washington metropolitan area. The information was published by the Croatian newspaper "Sportske Novosti".

According to the publication, the incident occurred on the day the team arrived in the city, on Tuesday (9). The employee, linked to the hotel's food and beverage sector, was reportedly terminated after information was leaked about orders made by the delegation during their stay.

Also according to the Croatian newspaper, the information concerned the request for two wines to be served at the hotel. However, according to the newspaper, wine consumption is not common among the team's athletes, while coach Zlatko Dalić does not drink alcoholic beverages.

The publication also informs that the hotel signed a confidentiality agreement with FIFA and the Croatian Football Federation. For this reason, employees would be prohibited from disclosing or sharing information related to hosting the delegation.
