David Bowie is remembered as one of the most creative, influential and visionary artists in the history of music. Another famous episode involves Axl Rose, lead singer of Guns N' Roses. The tension reportedly arose in a very personal situation, when Bowie appeared at The Cathouse before a show in which Guns N' Roses were opening for the Rolling Stones. According to the story, Bowie arrived drunk and flirted with Axl's girlfriend. Angry, the singer started a physical confrontation and even shouted a threat against the Brit.

Elton John also had a complicated relationship with David Bowie. The two became close at the beginning of their careers and used to frequent shared environments, including alongside Marc Bolan. Over the years, however, the friendship cooled. Elton stated that Bowie made sarcastic comments about him in interviews and mentioned that, despite admiring his music, he felt a distant and cold attitude towards him.

The composer and multi-instrumentalist Frank Zappa also joined the list of artists who had friction with Bowie. The problem would have started when Bowie tried to hire guitarist Adrian Belew, who played with Zappa. In a meeting backstage at a show in Berlin, the atmosphere became heavy, with Zappa reacting aggressively to Bowie's attempts to talk cordially.

Gary Numan experienced a different disappointment. Before the conflict, he was an avowed Bowie fan. The situation changed in 1980, when Bowie was reportedly bothered by the similarity between Numan's aesthetic and his own artistic image. According to the article, Bowie had Numan removed from the program The Kenny Everett Christmas Show, where they would both appear. The episode deeply impacted Numan, who felt rejected by a former idol.

These stories show that David Bowie, in addition to being an artistic genius, was also a complex personality. His creative strength provoked admiration, but also insecurity, friction and negative reactions among professional colleagues.
