Juliano Tchula speaks out about Marília Mendonça's biopic and says he doesn't want his image to be used

After years of silence since the death of Marília Mendonça, in 2021, Juliano Tchula, the artist's greatest composition partner, published a video on social media to express his opinion about the artist's biopic.
This Friday (3), the singer stated that he doesn't care about the script or how they portray him, but he doesn't want his image to be used.
Marília Mendonça will have a film about her career. Singer Marina Versos will be responsible for interpreting it. The Prime Video production will also feature Hermila Guedes, Klara Castanho, Marcelo Serrado and Sophia Valverde in the cast. The film's recordings begin in July and are expected to be released in 2027.
João Guilherme would be responsible for playing Tchula in the work.

The video with the composer's message was released one day after his wife, Flavi Soares, stated that the family's lawyers were already in contact with the production. "Just to let you know that my husband did not authorize the use of his image in the film!!! Our lawyers have been in contact for months," she wrote.
On his page, Flavi published the video of Tchula, who does not have social media, and also commented: "You achieved the feat of making someone who hates the internet and never recorded videos in the past speak!! It's 7 years away from the internet, 7 years of conversion! We never disrespect anyone and we will not accept disrespecting ours family."
"Two years ago, I had already asked my lawyers to notify the possible creation of a film that I didn't want to participate in. And they insisted, they continued with it until today. They brought it up again", began Tchula.
"My lawyers got in touch again to notify them that I don't want to appear. I don't care about the script of the film. I don't care how I portray myself. I just want to live in the present here with Jesus. My past, I don't live in the past anymore, I'm living here with my family."
"They attacked my wife on social media, that's why I'm here. She's not the one speaking for me, she represents me and I asked her to speak. So, you're fighting on the internet, I don't care about that, you know? You're fighting over someone you don't know", continued the composer.
"I no longer receive royalties. I'm not looking for money from this film, I have a right not to appear in the film. I don't want my image to be used."

The singer died at the age of 26 in a plane crash, in 2021. Marília Mendonça's songs took Brazil by storm with intense and romantic lyrics and melodies. Considered one of the most popular artists in the sertanejo, she led a female turnaround in the genre, which imposed women as protagonists of the style until then dominated almost exclusively by men, from 2016 onwards, in the so-called "feminejo".
