Joyce Alane comments on demands for 'new Gils and Caetanos' in national music: 'They were them'
Joyce Alane comments on the demand for 'new Gils and Caetanos' in national music
Joyce Alane's year 2026 will be marked by great debuts. The 28-year-old singer from Recife performed for the first time at Rock in Rio Lisboa. And he will also be, for the first time, at Rock in Rio, in September.
In an interview with g1, in the Portuguese edition of the festival, Joyce said that, back in 2021, when he broke through with the track "Leão", he dreamed of these achievements.
"I actually imagined this in my dreams, but I thought it was very far from my reality. I think that in 10 years our lives change a lot, right? And in the 5 years that I've already been on this path, I'm going to Rock in Rio... It's a dream of many artists. And I'm finally realizing it. For me it's wonderful", she celebrates.
Before her performance in Portugal, the singer took the opportunity to get to know Lisbon. And pack inspiration for your songs.
"I think that everything that is new to us inspires. For me it's like that. So, getting to know new cultures, getting to know new places. That inspires me a lot. So, Lisbon certainly inspired me in that regard. Seeing so many people speaking so many languages and each with their own way. It was very special."
During her visit to the country, the artist also had a meeting with the Portuguese singer Carminho.
"For me, it was a great moment. Arriving at Carminho's house, meeting a little bit off stage, it was really cool. I think Carminho is the name [for a possible feat], but it's a name for a lot of people, right?"

At the Lisbon festival, Joyce performs alone. But in Rio, the singer will perform in partnership with Carol Biazin.
"I'm very excited. I was talking to Carol today, we're still going to rehearse. So I'll be able to be sure how things are at the end of this one. We're going to get together to see what songs we're going to do, so I can't even give a proper spoiler, why would I give a spoiler and then the spoiler is fake news? It's better not to."
The demand for 'new Gils, Bethânias and Caetanos' in national music
Star of the new national music scene, Joyce Alane commented on the constant demands for the "new Gils, Chicos, Bethânias and Caetanos".
"There won't be new Chicos, new Caetanos, new Bethânias, because they were them. And whoever is coming is to make their way. It's to make their way, to make their history." fact. And no. They are not new Gilberto Gil, they are not people who are hungry to make their own history."
