Joe Manganiello releases book about fighting "mysterious and deadly disease"
Actor Joe Manganiello, 49, revealed that he will release a book about his journey in search of explanations for health problems. In a recent interview with People magazine, the actor announced the memoir "Bloodline".
According to him, the literary work narrates his years-long search for answers and his journey towards healing. On social media, Manganiello revealed that he spent a decade looking for a diagnosis.
"The book documents my 10-year search for answers and expands horizons, both globally and backward in time, as I deepen my understanding of my family's history and make some absolutely unbelievable discoveries," said the actor.
In the video posted on Instagram, he also described the period as a "mysterious and deadly illness".
"For most of the last decade - and most people don't know this - I suffered in silence, battling a mysterious and deadly illness, and apart from a very small circle of family and friends, I hid it from the rest of the world, and until recently I hadn't shared what I had been through," he added.
Joe Manganiello explained that he spent months using strong medications for chronic pain attacks. He also underwent serious procedures in an attempt to find a solution.
The book chronicles how the health crisis generated "a cascade of autoimmune diseases" that affected his skin, thyroid, eyes, lungs and digestive system.
"I hope that what I have experienced on this journey can give readers hope that answers and healing may be on the other side of whatever difficulty they are facing. The process of writing this book gave me the perspective that helped me realize that my suffering was a cocoon from which I would emerge forever transformed," he said.
The book "Bloodlines" will be released on October 13th this year.
