Joaquim Barbosa did not approve a video made with AI about the campaign

Former minister of the STF (Supreme Federal Court) Joaquim Barbosa did not approve and had no knowledge of the video published by a social media profile linked to the DC (Christian Democracy) party. With a campaign tone, the material was produced with artificial intelligence.

The video, published on Friday (22), portrays Barbosa in a toga and shows him saying that "the time has come to turn the page". CNN found that the material did not have the authorization of the former minister.

The unreal image of Joaquim Barbosa appears after statements by Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), also pre-candidates for the Presidency.

Joaquim Barbosa is portrayed walking with televisions in the background, simultaneously showing news about Brazilian politics and images of Flávio and Lula.

A statement by Flávio is highlighted. In the excerpt, the senator admits to having met Daniel Vorcaro, former owner of Banco Master, after the former banker's first arrest: "I was with him once again after that event", says the senator.

About Lula, video rescues two incomplete speeches by the president regarding public security. In one, the PT member says that young people steal cell phones to sell.

Afterwards, Lula says that "users are responsible for drug traffickers". The following section was omitted in which the president considered the latter "victims" of the former. The head of the Executive even retracted his speech, saying that the phrase had been "misplaced".

After the excerpts shown, a hand is shown with a remote control turning off the TVs. Joaquim Barbosa appears saying the phrase about "turning the page". The video ends with the words "Joaquim Barbosa Pre-candidate for the Presidency of the Republic".

The DC decided to launch the former minister as the party's name in the presidential dispute after discarding the pre-candidacy of Aldo Rebelo, former president of the Chamber and former Minister of Defense. The decision generated an internal impasse within the acronym.

Joaquim Barbosa, however, has not yet officially commented on the possible candidacy. At the same time, Rebelo maintains that he remains a DC pre-candidate for Planalto. The party, however, announced in a statement that it is considering expelling Rebelo from the party.

CNN sought and attempted to contact João Caldas, president of the DC, about the video released, but received no response.
