João Fonseca: "Zé Gotinha" celebrates victory and users have repercussions on networks

Zé Gotinha's official profile, together with the Ministry of Health on social media, celebrated João Fonseca's historic victory over Novak Djokovic this Friday (29), at Roland Garros.

The publication had repercussions after the Brazilian's upset over the Serbian. "THIS WAS EPIC, IMMUNIZED! Our boy is protected, talented and a great player!", wrote the profile.

The post also congratulates João Fonseca on his achievement and states that the athlete "fills Brazil with pride on and off the court". Subsequently, users made several ironic comments on the publication. Djokovic was involved in controversies related to vaccination during Covid-19.

The Serbian athlete spent two years out of competition in the United States due to his refusal to take the vaccine. When he returned, he stated, "I don't regret the reason I wasn't here for two years. I'm happy to be back."

João Fonseca beat Serbian Djokovic, the biggest winner of titles in men's Grand Slams, by 3 sets to 2, with partials of 4/6, 4/6, 6/3, 7/5 and 7/5.

The match lasted more than 4h53min. Fonseca repeated the script of his previous victory, against Croatian Dino Prizmic, and turned the score around after being 2 sets to 0 behind.

With the historic victory, Fonseca reached the fourth round of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career. The Brazilian's best campaign had been the third round at Roland Garros (2025) and Wimbledon (2025).

The Brazilian now awaits the definition of his opponent to compete in the round of 16. Fonseca will face Norwegian Casper Ruud or American Tommy Paul.
