João Fonseca loses in the qualifying final and falls in the doubles in Halle

João Fonseca and German Daniel Altmaier were eliminated, this Sunday (14), from the men's doubles bracket of the ATP 500 in Halle.

The Brazilian and his partner lost 2 sets to 0 to the pair made up of North American Robert Galloway and Australian John Peers, 7/5 and 6/2. The duel was valid for the final of the tournament's qualifying bracket.

Fonseca had entered the competition with an invitation alongside Altmaier to seek rhythm in the game on grass, a surface he will play for the first time in 2026.

Focus on the singles bracket
Despite ending his participation in the doubles tournament early, João Fonseca remains on German soil to compete in the singles bracket in Halle.

Next Tuesday (16), the 19-year-old Brazilian makes his debut against German Yannick Hanfmann, current number 59 in the world.

The tournament is the first played on grass this season. It is important for tennis players' preparation for Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam of the year.
