João Fonseca grows in the second set and wins in his Roland Garros debut

João Fonseca debuts with victory at Roland Garros this Sunday (24), beating Frenchman Luka Pavlovic by 3 sets to 0. The duel valid for the first round of the singles bracket took place on the Simonne-Mathieu Court, one of the main courts of the event.

The 19-year-old Brazilian tennis player's victory came in 7/6 (8/6), 6/4 and 6/2, in a game lasting two hours and 14 minutes. After a balanced start, Fonseca grew on the court from the second set onwards, when he improved his service passes.

Now, in the second round of the Grand Slam, João faces Croatian Dino Prizmic, currently 72nd in the ATP rankings. If he wins the next match, the Rio native could face Serbian Novak Djokovic.
