João Fonseca falls in the first phase in Halle after being defeated by a German

Tennis player João Fonseca was defeated in the debut of the ATP 500 in Halle, Germany, by 2 sets to 0 (double 6/2) to the German Yannick Hanfmann, number 59 in the world. The match on the central court was held on Tuesday morning (16) and lasted just over an hour.

25th in the world rankings, the Brazilian tennis player had his first grass tournament of the year, in addition to participating in the German tournament for the third time.

Before Halle, João Fonseca had a good campaign at Roland Garros, in which he reached the quarter-finals. The German fell in the first round in the second Grand Slam of the season.

Yannick Hanfmann managed two service breaks over João Fonseca and won the first set 6/2. The Brazilian started the match serving, but was defeated in the opening game.

Then, the German confirmed his serve and broke Fonseca again, opening a 4-0 lead. With control of the actions, Hanfmann managed the result without any fear and closed the partial without difficulty.

In the second set, Hanfmann repeated the script and broke João's serve twice again to confirm the victory with another 6/2.

The Brazilian is also out of the doubles bracket of the ATP in Halle. João Fonseca returns to the courts at the ATP 250 in Eastbourne, held in the United Kingdom. The competition will be his last preparation before Wimbledon, the main tournament of the grass court season.
