Flamengo coach, Leonardo Jardim took stock of the team's campaign in the Copa Libertadores. Rubro-Negro ended the group stage with 16 points and at the top of Group A.

When analyzing the team's performance in the continental competition, Jardim compared the current campaign with others carried out by Flamengo in the past. The coach highlighted that, depending on the results this Wednesday (27), the club could achieve the best performance in its history in the Libertadores group stage.

"What I know is that the best campaign was in 1984, when we won the group and came second overall. In 2022, we won the group, but we didn't come first overall. If our rivals don't win tomorrow, we will be first overall. The best campaign in the club's history", analyzed Jardim.

"In football, we look a lot at the final result when it matters. It doesn't guarantee a title, but the campaign will be remembered. That's all, it's not the result that gives us the title, but it's a milestone that is among the best in the club's history", he added.

One of the leaders of the red and black squad, Bruno Henrique also valued Flamengo's campaign in the competition. In an interview after the defeat of Cusco, the striker stated that finishing the group stage with the best overall campaign was one of the team's objectives.

"The importance is for Flamengo to be first. Coming first is very difficult, but the objective was to score as many points as possible, it was a situation we wanted. We scored as many points as possible, now it's up to those close to us to come first", said the striker.

Scenario for Flamengo to finish first overall
Rubro-Negro ended its participation in the group stage with 16 points, adding five wins and a draw.

Currently, only Independiente Rivadavia-ARG, from Group C, and Rosario Central-ARG, from Group H, can still overcome Flamengo's campaign. To do this, however, both must win their commitments by a large goal difference.

Independiente Rivadavia faces Bolívar at altitude, this Wednesday (27), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time). Rosario Central visits Independiente del Valle, in Ecuador, also this Wednesday, at 7pm (Brasília time).
