Japanese man who criticized Neymar mocks Brazilians: "They have a lot of free time"

After Japan's elimination to Brazil in the round of 16 of the World Cup, Kento Shiogai once again commented on the controversy created before the match. The striker, who criticized Neymar in the days leading up to the duel, mocked the invasion of Brazilians on his Instagram profile.

In an interview with the Japanese portal Daily Sports, Shiogai stated that Brazilian fans "should have a lot of free time".

Despite the ironic tone, the attacker recognized that the controversy had reached greater proportions than he imagined. Speaking to journalists the day after the elimination, Shiogai made it clear that he does not intend to go back on the criticisms made before the confrontation. "There's no way I can recant now. We lost, so what people say is their problem. I just want to make sure it doesn't end like this," he said.

Despite maintaining his position, the 21-year-old striker acknowledged that he will start measuring his words better. "I just said what I thought, but I don't know how it will be interpreted. I want to be more careful from now on," he added.

Although he did not enter the field in the 2-1 defeat, the striker was one of the characters in the confrontation outside the four lines. After the final whistle, Matheus Cunha responded to the provocations by showing five fingers towards the Japanese bench, in reference to Brazil's fifth world championship.

The repercussion also had a negative side. Shiogai was also the target of a wave of offensive messages and xenophobic attacks on social media after the Brazilian classification.
