Japan wants to challenge Brazil and is confident of winning the World Cup, says coach

The Japanese team has never been so confident in its quest for an unprecedented (and historic) World Cup title.

With good performances in the group stage and qualification to face Brazil in the second stage, the team hopes to advance in the knockout stages.

This Sunday (28), coach Hajime Moriyasu recognized the strength of the Brazilian team in the confrontation and stated that the Asian team will need a great performance to win.

Moriyasu, on the other hand, praised Japan's confidence in this World Cup campaign. The country is working to win a historic title in the next editions of the tournament and wants this edition to be an example of that.

The Japanese coach assured that he will not change his playing style to face the Brazilian team, regardless of favoritism, and asks for respect for Nippon's quality for the remainder of the World Cup.

It is worth mentioning that the Blue Samurais cycle for this World Cup includes significant victories. The team defeated countries like Brazil, England and Germany in friendlies.

Brazil and Japan face each other this Monday (29), at 2pm (Brasília time), at the NRG Stadium, in Houston, United States, in the round of 16 phase of the World Cup.

The winner advances to the round of 16 to face Ivory Coast or Norway.
