Ivory Coast surprises and overturns France in pre-World Cup friendly
Cote d'Ivoire surprised and defeated France 2-1, in a comeback, this Thursday (4), in a friendly preparatory match for the World Cup. The duel was played at the Stade de la Beaujoire, in Nantes.
Favorites, the French team opened the scoring with Cherki, Manchester City striker, in the 45th minute of the first half. The African team, however, was unfazed, reacted and turned the match around with goals from Guéla Doué and Amad Diallo, in the eighth and 39th minutes of the final stage.
Both teams will be at the World Cup, which will start on the 11th, in the United States, Mexico and Canada. France is in Group I, alongside Senegal, Iraq and Norway. Ivory Coast is in Group E, along with Germany, Curaçao and Ecuador.
Before their official debut at the World Cup, the French team will have one more friendly match ahead. On June 8th, the French will face Northern Ireland, at 4:10 pm (Brasília time).
The Africans are now on the field looking for the World Cup. The debut takes place on the 14th, at 8pm (Brasília time), against Ecuador.
