What does the video look like?
Published on TikTok, YouTube and X this Monday (6), the video went viral after Spain beat Portugal 1-0, in Dallas, in the United States. In an interview after the game, Cristiano Ronaldo stated that this was his last World Cup.
See two examples of captions: "A drone farewell was made to Cristiano Ronaldo in his hometown, in Madeira, after he played his last match for Portugal against Spain in the World Cup [...]"; and "Madeira said goodbye to Cristiano Ronaldo with a drone show, after the last game of his World Cup career [...]".
The descriptions omit that this is content created with artificial intelligence (AI), as evidenced by detection tools used by Fato ou Fake (read details below).
The scene shows a group of people filming and observing a drone show in a coastal region at night. The equipment forms, at the top, a Portuguese flag. At the bottom, the message "Thank you, 7" appears, as well as the silhouette of a player wearing the number 7 shirt of the Portuguese team. The figure jumps, spins in the air and lands with both arms and legs open, an allusion to Cristiano Ronaldo's characteristic celebration when scoring goals.
In the comments section, users questioned whether the video was real or an AI production, while others congratulated the attacker.
⚠ Why is it #FAKE?
Fato ou Fake submitted the content to three tools that detect content manufactured with AI - and all indicated use of this resource. See the results of the analysis and infographics at the end of this check:
HiveModeration: 99.9% probability that the video was generated with AI. "This contribution is likely to contain AI-generated or deepfake content."
Sightengine: 98% probability the video was generated with AI.
SynthID: "Made with Google AI (Video). SynthID detected in all or part of uploaded content."
Additionally, the scene has inconsistencies common in AI creations. The screens of two cell phones filming the event record a different version of the same "drone show". In one of them, the player's head is covered by the message "Thank you, 7". In the other, the message and the flag of Portugal do not appear (see below).
Video created with AI has inconsistencies between the scene shown and cell phone screens recording the event.

O Fato ou Fake also identified the first publication of this video, shared this Monday on Instagram from a profile that describes itself as an "AI video creator and digital filmmaker".
In the caption, he wrote: "Cristiano Ronaldo's farewell with drones in Madeira 7⃣ Comment "CR7" and I'll send you the prompts Created with @pixverse_official #pixversecpp".
PixVerse is a tool for creating videos and images with AI, which produces these materials through text commands (prompts).
The author shares on his social media accounts similar videos of fictional drone shows created with AI, such as a scene of goalkeeper Vozinha, from Cape Verde, defending Argentine Lionel Messi's goal attempt.
