What is the message like?
The poster shows a photo of the pontiff, in which he appears holding a football.
Beside it, there is the following text, attributed to him: "Football reminds us of something we should not forget: life is not a competition to shine alone, but the path we learn to walk together. Those who don't know how to pass the ball, even if they have talent, still don't understand the game. And those who don't know how to live with others and for others still don't understand life."
Although the image was generated by artificial intelligence (AI), as proven by a detector used by Fato ou Fake, the message is real and was shared by the pope's own profile on June 10th (understand below).

On the same date, g1 reproduced a report from the news agency France Presse (AFP) entitled: "On the eve of the World Cup, Pope Leo XIV says that life and football are played 'as a team'". The pontiff made the analogy, during a ceremony at the Church of Saint Augustine, in Barcelona, Spain, when responding to a letter written by a six-year-old boy. The speech was in line with other recent messages released by Leo XIV, in which he preached unity and criticized war.
Fato ou Fake also checked, on the Vatican website, the transcription of that speech (made in Portuguese from Portugal). Read: "Football also helps us remember something very important: that life is not a race to live alone, it is something that is played as a team and you need to learn to run together. In this sense, a player who may be a star, but who never passes the ball, does not allow others to participate in the game and will probably lose."
Finally, Fato ou Fake submitted the image of the pope holding a football to the Hive Moderation tool, which detects content created with AI. Analysis result: 87.7% of this resource was used (see infographic below).
