A post shared on social media that claims that player Gabriel Martinelli told CNN Brasil to vote for PT is false. The content was published on X and in WhatsApp groups.

The post reproduces the design of the CNN Esportes page with a fake interview with the player, who "claims to be 13 in the polls", despite wearing the number 22 shirt.

CNN Brasil did not conduct any interviews with the Brazilian national team player. The content circulating on social media is a deepfake.

Martinelli's press office stated that the content is clearly a montage and that the player will not comment on the matter. A CBF spokesperson also said the fact-checked claim was false.

The content uses an image from the player's interview with CazéTV shortly after the match in which he scored the winning goal for Brazil over Japan in the World Cup, last Monday (29). In the conversation, Martinelli did not make any political statements.

Deepfake
Deepfake, like the one involving CNN Brasil, is a technique that uses artificial intelligence tools to create, combine, replace or superimpose audio and photos to create fake files.

Widely used in the dissemination of false information by criminals, the tool allows people to be placed in random situations, "speaking" phrases they have never said or taking actions never actually taken.

This type of technique is done with the aim of deceiving and convincing that the image conveyed is true.
