What does the ad look like?
The images went viral as a sponsored ad on X and have captions such as: "Moment captured behind the scenes on TV"; "Now everyone will find out about this!"; and "The broadcast stopped at exactly the wrong time and no one is explaining why. Something was detected before you could see it. Who sent this bit? See what they didn't want you to know."
These statements omit that the content was manufactured with artificial intelligence (AI). They also do not make it clear that these are propaganda pieces to take the user to a high-risk investment platform. Ao Fato ou Fake, TV Cultura's press office said that the website with the broadcaster's symbols is fake and that Sallouti never gave an interview to Roda Viva, information confirmed by representatives of BTG Pactual itself. (See all the details of the check below.)
Fato ou Fake also contacted Vera Magalhães. She said she had contacted the law firm that represents her, to notify the platforms to remove this content from the air: "It's something so crude that I have difficulty even understanding what kind of scam it is. In some montages, there are even three versions of 'me', one watching, one presenting the program and the other fighting with someone. I imagined that no one would take it seriously, but I got scared when a source asked me if it was true."
The "photos" display what would be records of an alleged fight between Vera Magalhães and Robderto Sallouti in the Roda Viva studio, on TV Cultura. In some frames, the image of the program's current presenter, Ernesto Paglia, appears, positioned between the pair, as if to break up the discussion.
Superimposed on the images, there is a "play" button symbol, to induce users to click there, thinking that they will watch the video of the confrontation.
In fact, the click takes you to a website that imitates the appearance of the TV Cultura page and displays the following title: "You are robbing Brazilian families! The interview with Vera Magalhães ended in scandal. The CEO of BTG Pactual, Roberto Sallouti, left the studio after being confronted by the journalist".
A text simulates a dialogue in which the journalist and former Roda Viva presenter recommends a risk investment platform and offers a link. It has a chat in which a virtual assistant asks several personal questions, such as nationality, age group, whether you have children over 18, occupation, name, email and cell phone number.
The user is then directed to a foreign forex investment platform (foreign exchange), a global market for buying and selling currencies. The following screens prompt the person to make a deposit of at least $100 via credit card, debit card, cryptocurrency or global payment processors to begin trading.
A warning at the bottom of the page states that some issuing banks restrict credit cards to online entertainment, a term associated with gambling or high-risk platforms rather than traditional financial brokerages. The winning rates displayed on the screen exceed 600%, a rate considered high for the traditional financial market.
⚠ Why is it #FAKE?
Fato ou Fake submitted some of these images to the Hive Moderation tool, which detects content manufactured with AI. Analysis results: high probability (99.7%, 99.9% and 80.8%) that this resource was used to manufacture the material (see infographic below).
Fato ou Fake submitted the images identified as if they were of the journalist and the businessman to the Hive Moderation detection tool.
The platform pointed out that the images contain artificial intelligence.

On Friday (5), TV Cultura published a statement on its official Instagram profile saying: "The Padre Anchieta Foundation [responsible for the broadcaster] warns: scammers are creating fake videos, with artificial intelligence, using the program Roda Viva, from TV Cultura. This content is circulating on social media, and when the user clicks on the link to these publications, they can have their personal and banking details exposed".
When contacted, the TV Cultura press office sent the following note: "The Padre Anchieta Foundation has rigorously monitored cases of manipulation and misuse of its contents and brands on digital platforms for the dissemination of false information. The institution does not approve the use and alteration of its intellectual properties, through Artificial Intelligence, for the deliberate creation of misleading content and inappropriate exposure of its journalists, presenters and collaborators. appropriate measures, notifying the companies responsible for social media platforms and all content related to the digital environment. Such notifications are immediately issued when the irregular use of TV Cultura brands or the unauthorized association of the broadcaster's material with untrue publications are identified.
Fato ou Fake also showed the investment website to the Securities and Exchange Commission's advisors, who explained:
The CVM's actions include offers made by foreign entities when there is a fundraising effort aimed at the Brazilian public, such as advertising in Portuguese, receiving funds through local payment methods or serving customers residing in the country. In these situations, the current rules of the securities market are applicable, and the CVM may adopt administrative measures, including issuing warnings and suspension orders.
To date, there is no public offering of contracts for difference (CFD) or operations in the Forex market authorized or registered in Brazil.
In relation to promises of fixed or expressive returns, the CVM warns that there are no investments with guaranteed profitability and reduced risk in this type of operation. The CFD/Forex market is highly speculative and involves leverage, which increases both gains and losses, which can lead to the complete loss of the amounts invested.
On the "citizen alerts" page, there are warnings from the CVM about irregular offers/activities in the market, without authorization from the municipality. Furthermore, the CVM recommends reading the booklet on CFD/Forex, which reinforces guidance for investors and clarifies the risks associated with these products.
Every citizen can, whenever they consider it necessary, forward reports and complaints to the CVM, in addition to seeking clarification from the Authority, through the Citizen Assistance Service (SAC), regarding a wide range of matters within the capital market.
Finally, Fato ou Fake contacted X's advisors and asked for a statement on the allegations contained in the advertisements, but had not received a response until the last update of this report.
