A video of a news program is circulating on social media that supposedly announced that the referee of the Brazil 3 x 0 Scotland game, played on June 24th and valid for the third round of Group C, was suspended from the World Cup because he disallowed a goal by Vini Jr. IT'S #FAKE.

What does the video look like?
Shared on TikTok on Monday (29), the video has the following text box superimposed on the images: "The referee who disallowed Vini's goal was suspended".
Although the content has the stamp "Marked by the creator as generated by AI [artificial intelligence]", in the comments section there are messages from users who believed the claims. Furthermore, the material went viral on Kwai without any indication that it was synthetic.
The version on TikTok simulates a news program, in which the presenter is on a bench and claims:"The referee who canceled Vini's goal was suspended. See the report."
Next, a narration with a male voice, also made with AI, says:"The referee who unfairly canceled Vinicius Junior's goal was suspended by FIFA and is banned from refereeing any game for 6 months. The CBF demanded his immediate removal, but FIFA went further and ruled that he would not referees no matches for other teams during this period [...]".
In this section, real images of the Brazilian football team appear; the president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino; and the president of the CBF, Samir Xaud. There are still scenes that, despite being true, have no relationship with the content. In one of them, Spanish referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz, retired since 2023, can be seen crying on the field.
In that game mentioned in the fake, Mexican referee César Ramos actually canceled a goal scored by Vini Jr. in the 21st minute of the first half, when the score was 1-0 for Brazil. Reason: VAR indicated the Brazilian striker was missing.
The following day, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) sent a letter of formal complaint to the International Football Federation (Fifa) against VAR's intervention in the bid. The ge report reported: "The CBF suggests that the Mexican referee no longer referee Brazilian games."

Fato ou Fake also contacted the CBF press office. The response stated that, in the formal complaint presented to FIFA, there was no requirement for the "immediate removal of the referee" from the World Cup.
