Four people were killed in an Israeli drone attack that hit a vehicle in southern Lebanon on Monday (6), the Lebanese state news agency reported. The action puts to the test a fragile ceasefire in the conflict with Hezbollah.

The Israeli Armed Forces said it was verifying the report.

Following several ceasefire announcements since April, violence declined significantly last month as Iran insisted on demanding a ceasefire in Lebanon during negotiations with the US and Israel scaled back attacks in the country at Washington's request.

Lebanese security sources said the attack was the deadliest in recent weeks.

Lebanon's National News Agency identified the fatal victims as the director of a school in the town of Nabatieh al-Fawqa, her mother, the family's foreign domestic worker and a Syrian worker.

They were inspecting the family's home in the city when the drone fired a guided missile at the vehicle, killing all four instantly, the agency reported.

An interim agreement between the United States and Iran, signed last month, requires both countries and their allies to end military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon.
