Iran still has lots of drones, says Rubio amid uncertainty over truce

The Secretary of State of the United States, Marco Rubio, acknowledged this Tuesday (2) that the Iranians "still have a lot of drones", adding that the low cost of the technology makes the threat difficult to combat.

"This is a widespread problem around the world. The economic issue is something we need to resolve, but even so, [Iran's] drone building capacity has been eroded," Rubio told the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

The top US diplomat took advantage of his public appearance to praise the military's performance during the war.

Rubio said Iran's "conventional shield" has been "substantially eroded," referencing the use of missiles and drones to supposedly protect Iran's nuclear program.

What's left of the Iranian Navy is "a bunch of Boston Whaler boats with machine guns," commented the secretary.

The U.S. blockade of Iranian ports, he added, was costing Iran "hundreds of millions" of dollars in lost revenue each day.
