Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Tuesday that 25 vessels, including oil tankers, passed through the Strait of Hormuz within 24 hours after receiving authorization from its Navy.

In a statement carried by the semi-official Tasnim News agency, the Revolutionary Guard Navy said the vessels, including container ships, crossed the strategic waterway during the period with coordination and security provided by its forces.

CNN was unable to independently verify maritime traffic figures.

The Revolutionary Guard Navy also said it was maintaining what it described as "intelligent control" over the Strait of Hormuz and warned that "any act of aggression will be met with devastating blows."

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the most important maritime chokepoints in the world, through which a significant portion of global oil and gas supplies pass.
