Iran promises 'rapid and decisive' response after new US attack in Strait of Hormuz

USA bombs targets in Strait of Hormuz after Trump accuses Iran of violating ceasefire
Iran said this Friday (26) that it will give a "quick and decisive" response to the new attack carried out by the United States in the Strait of Hormuz region.

The threat was made by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, according to the country's state TV, hours after the US bomb Iranian targets. The Americans claim that Tehran violated the ceasefire agreement signed between the two countries.
According to the Revolutionary Guard, Iranian forces repelled an American attack against the island of Sirik, located on the shores of the Strait of Hormuz. The regime did not say whether there were damages or casualties.
The statement was reinforced by the chairman of the National Security Committee of the Iranian Parliament, who accused the President of the United States, Donald Trump, of not demonstrating "any commitment to the principles of negotiation or the ceasefire".
According to him, the "reckless violation of the ceasefire" by the US will make Washington "back down and regret it". On the 17th, they signed an initial peace agreement to end the war that began at the end of February.
The text foresees the reopening of Hormuz and establishes a 60-day deadline for negotiations on other issues, including the Iranian nuclear program.
On Friday, the Central Command of the US Armed Forces (Centcom) stated that American aircraft attacked Iranian missile and drone depots, as well as radar equipment on the southern coast of Iran.
"The unjustified aggression of Iranian forces against commercial ships clearly violated the ceasefire. Furthermore, the dangerous conduct of Iran has compromised freedom of navigation, at a time when commercial flow through this vital international trade corridor is growing," he said in a statement.

Also according to the command, American forces continue to act to guarantee the safe passage of commercial vessels through the strait and to ensure compliance with the agreement signed between Washington and Tehran.
The offensive occurred after Trump accused Iran of attacking ships crossing the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Trump, the Iranian regime launched at least four drones against commercial vessels. One of them hit a cargo ship, while the other three were shot down by American forces.
"Am I going to respond? You'll know soon," Trump said at the White House, shortly before the attacks.
UN operation suspended
On Thursday (25), the International Maritime Organization (IMO), a UN agency, suspended an operation aimed at removing hundreds of ships from the Strait of Hormuz after a vessel was attacked in the Gulf of Oman.
The British company maritime security UKMTO reported that a container ship was hit by a projectile while trying to cross the strait, near the port of Dahit, in Oman.
"I was informed today of an attack on a vessel that had crossed the Strait of Hormuz. This ship was not included under the agency's evacuation framework," said Arsenio Dominguez, secretary-general of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), in a statement.
He added that the decision to suspend the initiative was taken to "reconfirm whether the necessary security guarantees remain in force."
The initiative had begun on Tuesday (23) and allowed vessels to leave the region via routes supervised by the United States. Preliminary data from the agency indicated that 57 ships, with around 1,100 crew members, had crossed the strait during the operation.
Authorities have not yet confirmed who was responsible for the attacks or the severity of the damage.
Also on Thursday, the Persian Gulf Strait Authority, created by Iran to administer the region, stated that vessels that use unauthorized routes will not be guaranteed safe passage.
