Iran negotiator conditions agreement with the US on guaranteeing "rights"

The president of the Iranian Parliament and the country's main negotiator, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, stated this Sunday (31) that no agreement will be approved with the United States until Tehran's "rights" are guaranteed.

The statement was published by the semi-official Tasnim news agency.

"Soldiers on the diplomatic battlefield do not trust the enemy's words and promises," said Qalibaf.

"What matters to us are the tangible achievements that we must obtain, in exchange for which we will fulfill our commitments", he added.

CNN learned from US officials on Thursday that Washington and Tehran have reached a tentative agreement to transform the existing ceasefire into a more lasting solution.

But a series of demands made by President Donald Trump on Friday - over the Strait of Hormuz, Iran's nuclear program and the unfreezing of Iranian assets held abroad - drew criticism from Iran, casting doubt on the progress made towards a deal that both warring parties would sign.
