Iran criticizes NATO in the war against the US and calls Rutte a "sycophantic courtier"

The spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Baghaei, criticized in the early hours of this Thursday (9) the stance of the secretary general of NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization), Mark Rutte, accusing the military alliance of being "complicit in the war" of the United States and Israel against Iran.

In a post on the social network X, Baghaei stated that European NATO countries "were not impartial in this brutal and illegal aggression".

"Those who made their territories, military bases and infrastructure available to enable the offensive cannot escape responsibility for their contribution to an unprovoked aggression and its serious consequences," wrote the Iranian diplomat.

Also in the publication, Baghei said that Rutte's "insistent self-promotion" "exposes the servile mentality of a sycophantic courtier, who believes that flattery can erase a king's contempt."

"In Washington's eyes, an ineffective organization cannot be made effective through sycophancy - nor can such manipulative sycophancy ever restore the sycophant's own self-respect and personal integrity."

As CNN showed, Rutte supported the United States' most recent attacks against Iran. Speaking to journalists before the alliance's summit in Ankara on Wednesday morning (8), he stated that military action was "absolutely necessary."

"When there is a ceasefire and Iran is basically violating it, we saw what happened yesterday with the attacks on ships, I think it is completely crucial that the United States reacts firmly," Rutte said at the time.

Later, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated that he believed that the memorandum of understanding signed with Iran was "over", following the series of attacks recorded in the region.

"It's a waste of time negotiating with them," Trump said during the NATO summit.
