Iran confirms attack on Kuwait; US says offensive failed

Iran confirmed that it carried out an attack against Kuwait this Tuesday (2). According to the Revolutionary Guard, three missiles hit "enemy bases" in the country, in response to what it called "brazen and blatant aggression" by the United States on the island of Qeshm.

An Iranian state broadcaster later reported that the targets were two air bases used by American forces. At least 10 ballistic missiles would have been fired.

Iran's military also pointed out that the attacks are an "initial response", warning of a much stronger counterattack to come.

The Kuwaiti Army, in turn, reported having intercepted missile and drone attacks.

The United States claimed that the Iranian offensive failed, saying that missiles were also fired at Bahrain - sirens were heard in the country, and the Defense Minister asked the population to remain in shelters.

"Iran launched several ballistic missiles toward neighboring countries in the region; however, all failed to reach their intended targets," highlights the text from the American Central Command.

"Two Iranian missiles fired at Kuwait failed to reach their targets or fragmented en route, and three missiles fired at Bahrain were immediately intercepted by US and Bahraini air defense forces," the statement added.
