Iran claims to have hit air base in northern Israel

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed to have hit the Ramat David air base, in northern Israel, with ballistic missiles this Sunday (7).

The corporation released images on state media of what it said was the moment the missiles were launched.

After at least three initial salvos fired at Israel, the Israeli military reported having intercepted all Iranian ballistic missiles launched so far - at least 10.

In response to a question about the IRGC's claim, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) told CNN that there were new launches following the release of its initial statement and that it cannot provide further information about the alleged attack on the base.

Earlier, the Israeli government announced that schools will remain closed across the country on Monday following the interception of missiles from Iran.

The Israeli Rear Command also advised the population to remain close to shelters, given the possibility of a serious escalation of the conflict between Israel and Iran.

Iran had threatened to attack Israel directly if the country carried out attacks on Beirut. Earlier this Sunday, Israel attacked the Lebanese capital in response to Hezbollah fire on northern Israel.
