Iran challenges Israel's hegemony and global energy "guardian", says Kalout

Iran managed to paradigmatically change the security architecture of the Middle East by both challenging Israel's military hegemony and destabilizing the premise that the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf are the guardians of global energy security.

The assessment is by professor of International Relations at USP and researcher at Harvard (USA) Hussein Kalout, participating in WW Especial: The world after the war against Iran, which airs this Sunday (28), at 10pm (Brasília time; watch).

The professor highlighted that, today, Iran was included in the energy issue by demonstrating power to control the Strait of Hormuz - the exit passage from the oil ports of the Persian Gulf towards the open seas.

"And not only that: Iran has made it very clear that it can attack any Gulf Arab country and its refineries and can collapse the global energy system," added Hussein Kalout.
