OECD warns that war in Iran will have an impact on the global economy
A possible peace agreement between Iran and the United States has US$24 billion in Iranian assets frozen as an impasse. In an interview with CNN, this Friday (5), Mohsen Rezaei, military advisor to the Iranian supreme leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, stated that the end of the conflict depends on the approval of the Donald Trump government to release the funds.
Iran has demanded the release of $12 billion in frozen funds once an interim agreement is signed with the US, and another $12 billion at a later date, according to the broadcaster. "Negotiations are at an impasse and Trump needs to break this impasse," said Mohsen Rezaei.
Also according to the American TV report, officials from Donald Trump's government fear that any release of funds at this stage could eliminate an important point of pressure on the regime.

The Republican president would have demanded that any agreement be much more robust than the nuclear agreement reached in 2015 and that anything that could be interpreted as the handing over of "mountains of money" be avoided - an expression he used to criticize then-president Barack Obama's decision to grant financial compensation to Tehran.

Release of frozen assets
"If he (Trump) wants to reach a deal with Iran, this $24 billion is a test of trust that Iran wants to have with Trump - this is a test that the United States needs to pass and the path will be opened," he said. "This is our money, not the money of the United States."
