Venezuelan influencer Gianpero Fusco published a video on social media this weekend in which he appears walking shirtless and barefoot among the rubble of buildings destroyed by an earthquake that hit Venezuela last week.

In the footage, Gianpero films himself showing the destruction in the city of La Guaira. The influencer's content was the target of criticism from users who accused him of taking advantage of the tragedy to go viral.
Some accounts classified the attitude as "lack of respect". Others left comments like "Pathetic" and "Sitting."
"This video is really revolting. I always supported you and defended you when people said your character was extremist, but this video, seriously? I think you don't care who defended you. For me, this is completely unacceptable. Its content died today", said a user.

Gianpero had already been involved in controversy a few days ago after recording a video saying that "obese" and "skinny" people were unable to help family members and died in the earthquake due to their physical condition.
"Imagine the obese man who was caught on the 14th floor by an earthquake. Because health is not just physical, health serves to be able to survive in an ideal way, unlike that skinny weakling who has a sick family member and cannot help him during the earthquake", he said in a video. "Imagine all the people who have experienced these types of cases."
"Imagine the bum, the addict, the 'stoner', who was out there all doped up and couldn't help his family member and they also died because you can't face reality, because you live in a subordinate reality, because you're a lazy bum", he continued.
After criticism, he deleted the publication and made a retraction video. In the post, he apologizes for the video, says he wouldn't let it be made with artificial intelligence and that he takes responsibility for what he said.
"My video was out of context. I didn't imagine the scale of the tragedy that happened in Venezuela," he said.
"I've experienced many earthquakes and, at that moment, I thought this was just another one. I was in Caracas, I felt the tremor inside an apartment on a high floor. I saw that the building shook, but nothing happened in my apartment. I don't follow the news and I didn't realize the seriousness of the situation," he said.
