Inflation rises 0.16% in June with relief in food and fuel

The IPCA (Broad National Consumer Price Index) rose 0.16% in June, after rising 0.58% in the previous month, reported the IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) this Friday (10).

In the 12 months up to May, the IPCA increased by 4.64%. The expectation of analysts consulted by Reuters was an increase of 0.31%.

According to IBGE, the Food and Beverages group, with a drop of 0.24%, recorded the biggest negative change and the biggest negative impact (-0.05 p.p.) on the index. Another group that saw a drop in the period was Transport.

The variation in the Transport group (0.17%) reflects, in addition to the 7.12% increase in airline tickets, the 0.48% decline in fuels, all of which fell: ethanol (-3.09%), diesel oil (-1.19%), vehicle gas (-0.19%) and gasoline (-0.12%).
