Indonesia becomes second largest importer of Brazilian beef offal

Indonesia became the second largest importer of beef offal from Brazil less than a year after the opening of the market, according to a survey by Mapa (Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock) released this Friday (19).

According to a statement from the ministry, between January and May 2026, more than 12 thousand tons of Brazilian product were sent to the Asian country, in operations that totaled US$19.5 million.

Brazil's qualification took place in August last year and quickly expanded the number of qualified slaughterhouses. Currently, 52 establishments can trade beef offal between Brazil and Indonesia.

The numbers help reinforce the importance of the market in the Asian country. Data from Mapa shows that Indonesians import 70 thousand tons of these inputs from different sources around the world, totaling US$ 150 million. Currently, only Hong Kong imports more.

Brazil is a global highlight in this segment, in 2026 the country has already shipped more than 106 thousand tons to 117 countries, totaling US$ 256 million in five months. In 2025, this value totaled US$605 million and 267 thousand tons.

"With less demand in the domestic market, but widely consumed in several countries, beef offal finds in international trade an important alternative to increase the economic use of the animal, reduce waste and generate additional revenue for the beef production chain", says the Ministry of Agriculture in a note.

Counting all markets, in the first five months, agribusiness shipments to the Asian country exceeded US$ 1 billion, with emphasis on the soybean complex, fibers and textile products, in addition to tobacco and its products.
