The total average default rate recorded by banks in credit operations rose to 4.7% in May this year, a historic record, reported this Wednesday (1st) the Central Bank (BC).
According to the monetary authority, there was an increase of 0.1 percentage point in relation to April, when it totaled 4.6% (revised data).
The value was also the highest since the beginning of the monetary authority's revised historical series, in March 2011.

The Central Bank's default indicator considers operations overdue for more than 90 days, both for individuals and companies.

For companies, default rates remained stable at 3.1% in April, to 3.2% in May. It is the highest value since November 2017 (3.3%).
At the beginning of June, the government reported that Desenrola 2.0 had already renegotiated R$20 billion in bank debts.

Even so, this is a high level for the historical series, which began in March 2011 - whose average is 42%.
