In which country did Brazil win its first World Cup title? Remember
Led by Carlo Ancelotti, the Brazilian team is already in the United States to compete in the 2026 World Cup. In search of a sixth championship, Brazil will try to extend a victorious trajectory that began 68 years ago.
It was in Sweden, in 1958, that Amarelinha won its first world title. The campaign revealed Pelé to the world and left historic marks that remain to this day, such as the final with the most goals in World Cup history and the King's record as the youngest champion of the tournament.
CNN Esportes remembers the achievement that began Brazil's collection of five world titles.
Campaign to the final
Under the command of coach Vicente Feola, Brazil had a generation that made history, made up of names like Pelé, Garrincha, Zagallo and Vavá.
In the first phase, the team was part of Group 4, alongside Austria, England and the Soviet Union. The team finished undefeated, with two wins and a draw, guaranteeing a place in the quarter-finals.
The next opponent was Wales. In a balanced match, Brazil won 1-0 thanks to a brilliant move by Pelé. At 17 years old, the striker hit the marker and finished first time to score the only goal of the match. The feat made number 10 the youngest player to score goals in a World Cup.
In the semifinals, Brazil arrived as the only team that had not yet conceded goals in the tournament. On the other side was France, owner of the best attack in the competition, with 15 goals scored. The duel between the best defense and the most efficient attack ended in a 5-2 Brazilian victory. Pelé shone once again with a hat-trick.

The historic final
The final was played at the Råsunda Stadium, in Solna, in front of 49,737 fans. The opponent was hosts Sweden.
Both teams wore yellow uniforms, but as the Swedes had priority selection, Brazil had to improvise and entered the field for the first time with the blue shirt, which would become one of the most iconic in its history.
The start was nervous. Unusual with the new uniform, the Brazilians even missed passes because they confused their teammates on the field. Sweden took advantage and opened the scoring after just four minutes.
The reaction, however, was quick. Vavá equalized and turned the match around in the first half. In the final stage, Pelé scored the third one of the most beautiful goals in World Cup history.
With another goal from Zagallo and another from Pelé, Brazil closed out a 5-2 victory, repeating the score from the semi-final. To date, it is the biggest defeat by a team in a World Cup final.
At the final whistle, the Brazilian team won its first world title and began a trajectory that would transform it into the greatest champion in the history of World Cups, with five titles.
