In the 'Carnes Cup', Brazil surpasses Argentina's chorizo steak with flank steak and rump

In the Meat Cup, Brazil came out ahead. The Brazilian flank steak and rump cuts took 1st and 2nd place in the TasteAtlas ranking of the best beef dishes in the world, in 2026.
Both surpassed the traditional Argentinean chorizo steak, which came in 3rd place. Picanha, on the other hand, was beaten by its neighbors and appeared right behind, in 4th place.

In total, Brazil achieved 12 positions on the list, against Argentina's seven. In addition to diaper, rump and picanha, other Brazilian cuts and preparations that appear in the ranking are:
9th place: steak parmigiana;
13th place: maminha;
22nd place: vaca atolada, a typical dish of Minas Gerais cuisine;
62nd place: termite;
67th place: Oswaldo Aranha fillet, a classic from Rio;
75th place: stroganoff;
77th place: sun-dried meat;
91st place: jaguar meat, a traditional dish from Curitiba;
99th place: barreado, typical of Paraná.
In addition to the chorizo steak, Argentina was also present with six other dishes: the Neapolitan milanesa (28th place), the asado strip (34th), the milanesa (40th), the vacío (53rd), the milanesa a caballo (68th) and the milanesa de peceto (94th).
TasteAtlas is a gastronomic encyclopedia created by Croatian journalist Matija Babić, in 2018.
The rankings are based on evaluations from users of the platform, but, according to the company, there are mechanisms to identify real users, ignore votes from bots or those motivated by local patriotism and give more weight to the evaluations of people considered more connoisseurs.
