Idealizar from SAFIEL details non-binding proposal and talks about the impact of the Corinthians elections on the project
- By Fabio Luigi / Central do Timão Editorial
During the late afternoon and early evening of last Saturday (27), the creators of SAFIEL, which proposes the transformation of Corinthians into a Sociedade Anônima do Futebol - raising at least R$2.5 billion - through the sale of shares to fans, promoted an event attended by influencers and journalists seeking to leverage the project's petition.
During the press interview, one of the creators, Carlos Teixeira, answered questions about several topics, one of them being the importance of signing the non-binding proposal, upcoming targets for the number of signatures of the petition (SAFIEL Já), the impact of the club's elections on the project in question and how the search for contacts with people within Parque São Jorge is progressing.

Signature of non-binding proposal
"The non-binding proposal allows the project to be developed. We, as creators, matured the project over a year of debate with the fans, with the market, with lawyers. We made the project the most perfect from a legal point of view and from the fans' point of view. It is at a point now that, for it to proceed, Corinthians needs to be at the table, together. Contracts need to be drawn up, due diligence needs to be done, funds need to be structured so that shares can be distributed to fans, and none of this can be done if Corinthians is not at the table."
SAFIEL's difference in relation to other SAF models
"SAFiel is not an SAF owned by one owner, it is a SAF of Corinthians, it is a SAF that will belong to the Corinthian community. Every Corinthian member will be able to be a shareholder and no Corinthian member will be able to have relevant control of the SAF so that power is dispersed among all Corinthians."
SAFIEL ALREADY subscription target
"We are going to close the campaign in 30 days. It will be 30 days old on July 9th. We have just completed 15 days of the campaign. From the moment we, as creators, deliver the 100 thousand signatures and deliver the check subject to the conditions that are already there in the non-binding proposal, we understand that on our side there is absolutely nothing left to do."
Advanced funding depends on guarantees and partners working together on the project
"An advance capital contribution to Corinthians depends first on guarantees. What guarantees does Corinthians have to offer, in exchange for an advance contribution? Then, from there, the conditions are defined, rates are defined and, again, it will obviously depend on us being at the same table with Corinthians, designing and building together these issues that are still open."
"We have very solid banks that are working with us on the project, but they only want to enter from the moment Corinthians is on the table too. Many people, fans who want to invest, don't necessarily want to open their name. People have their private lives. (...) I can clearly say that Eduardo and I, for example, Maurício, a good part of the creators, will be part of this advance contribution. But many other people who signaled to us don't want their names revealed until this is done. official."
Message to the fans
"The time has come for everyone to stand up and express their voice about the future of Corinthians. No one else can remain silent at this moment. If we omit, it means voting or taking a stand in favor of what is there. (...) The biggest risk is to do nothing. Today Corinthians has a negative net worth, if we sell everything we own, we will still owe 700 million. SAFiel will clean up the club financially, the club will not have a loss assets with SAF. SAFiel will assume the debts, will professionalize football, will separate association policy from football management, will pay royalties to the association club."
SAFIEL proposal being used as an object of political campaign in the elections at the end of the year
"It's logical that the election itself creates more political instability, groups become more divided, people who are there change their position, reorganize themselves politically in another way. The fact is that, with each passing month, the cost of our debt increases or costs us approximately 50 million reais, close to that. So, from now until the election, we have July, August, September, October, November, we are talking about a cost of 250 million for waiting five months. We have been saying that SAFiel is a project for Corinthians, it is not for any political group. That's why we make a point of saying that we won't support any group, because this is a project for Corinthians, it's not a project for any political group."
"I think that, regardless of the election or not, Corinthians already has an ultimatum on the table, it has a financial ultimatum, it has a political ultimatum, it has an institutional ultimatum, it has the Public Ministry, it has Financial Fair Play, it needs to sell a large part of the team to pay salaries this year, it has a sports calendar for the second semester, it has an entire shift to play with a theoretically weaker team. So, in our opinion, there is an ultimatum already on President (Osmar) Stabile's desk to resolve. There wouldn't be time to postpone all these questions."
"It's a moment of togetherness. Who knows, perhaps the end of this campaign and the confirmation of this financial, sporting, institutional and political ultimatum will not be a combination of elements that mobilize the club to proceed with the proposal, given the fact that there is no other alternative on the table. There comes a time when you no longer have a player to sell, there comes a time when you no longer have any revenue to anticipate, you can no longer take the bench and Corinthians is very close to that situation, if not already in it."
"If we are going to include SAFiel within the Corinthians electoral debate, and I think this is inevitable, it will happen. All candidates will be asked about SAFiel, their position, etc. This reality is already in place, SAFiel is part of the electoral debate. I think that one of the great services that Safiel is already providing to Corinthians, regardless of whether we have the proposal signed or not, is that there is already a project in place. So, if someone says: 'Look, I don't want to go down the path of this project', that person will necessarily have to present something as good or better than that. For me, this is already a spectacular service that SAFiel brings to all Corinthians fans and all partners."
SAFIEL opened debates on management alternatives for Corinthians
"We introduced a kind of new element that did not exist on the political board and that cannot simply be discarded without something better being placed as an alternative. Because fans no longer buy this story about 'three more administrations', about 'five years from now'. I think that, if someone wants to present a speech like this and doesn't bring a spreadsheet, a projection, a well-founded project, they won't be successful and, on the basis of rhetoric, simply put, have credibility vis-à-vis, with a project that demonstrates how it will be done."
Frequent searches for conversations in Parque São Jorge
"Let's see how the politics inside unfold. Let's see if President Osmar, who told Kascão that he would sign for him, but wants to seek the support of Cori and the Council. Let's also help the president get this support, I think this is something we can do, we are already doing. In our opinion, the dialogues are very good. We had a meeting with Cori, the president, Dr. Miguel Marques, was at that meeting, other members of Cori were also there. With the Council, we already talked to (Romeu) Tuma before, we started talking to Pantaleão, very good conversations. With Stabile, the conversations are also very good."
"I think there are a thousand signatures left for us to reach 70 thousand, of these two thousand signatures are already from members. Organized groups of Parque São Jorge members are already looking for us. We are seeing the interest of members, the most organized ones now, in sitting down with us, in answering the latest questions, and it is growing. I have no doubt that Ant's work is generating a lot of results among the partners as well. This debate within the club has already started, but from groups of members who come to us. The institutional debate is underway. We received, let's say, promises to present the project at the Deliberative Council, just as we received a promise to present it at Cori, and we did. So, again, it's an ant's work. Yes, he is evolving."
