ICE arrests Brazilian named as former leader of the PCC and CV in the USA

ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) announced, this Monday (15), the arrest of a former leader of the criminal factions PCC (Primeiro Comando da Capital) and CV (Comando Vermelho).

According to the DHS (US Department of Homeland Security), Felipe Linares de Oliveira Dell Aquilla, known as "Don", was arrested in Mooresville, North Carolina, after being chased by American agents. The arrest took place on June 5, the same date that the United States began classifying the PCC and the CV as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTO).

In a note, the DHS states that Dell Aquilla previously served as commander of the PCC and the CV, classified by the US government as foreign terrorist organizations. Intelligence information indicated that he was holding his wife against her will as he prepared to flee to Mexico.

Dell Aquilla had an irregular immigration status and a criminal record in the USA. American authorities say he is also the target of an international warrant in Brazil for crimes of criminal association and extortion.

Dell Aquilla's arrest took place on June 5th. Agents conducted a traffic stop in Mooresville and, during the operation, Dell Aquilla attempted to escape in the vehicle, leading law enforcement on a chase that ended when he collided with cars stopped in traffic.

He then tried to flee on foot, but was arrested shortly afterwards. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of several cell phones, laptops, cash and a 9mm handgun. During testimony, Dell Aquilla's wife confirmed that she was being held against her will.

As shown by CNN, on the same date as Dell Aquilla's detention by ICE, the US designation of the PCC and CV as Foreign Terrorist Organizations came into effect.

"This arrest demonstrates HSI's unwavering commitment to protecting our communities from dangerous international criminals," said Mark M. Zito, HSI Special Agent in Charge for North Carolina and South Carolina.

Dell Aquilla was taken to the county jail, where he now faces state felony charges for fleeing to avoid arrest. HSI also seeks to file charges of illegal possession of a firearm by alien and kidnapping, while ICE has filed an immigration detention order against him.

Greensboro HSI and Charlotte HSI were supported by HSI New England, as well as officers from the Iredell County Sheriff's Office and the Mooresville Police Department.

According to authorities, Dell Aquilla entered the United States illegally at an unknown date and location.
