A Mexican man died after being shot by a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent during an immigration operation carried out this Tuesday morning (7), in Houston, Texas.
The information was released by local press outlets.

To Fox, the department reported that the man, identified as Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, was in the United States illegally.
In a statement, ICE reported that its agents were attempting to approach a vehicle as part of a "targeted enforcement operation" to arrest an undocumented immigrant. According to the agency, Araujo tried to escape the approach.

According to the statement reproduced by Fox News, Araujo collided with an ICE vehicle, ignored repeated verbal orders from the agents and used the vehicle as a weapon when trying to run over a police officer. Given the situation, an agent opened fire in self-defense, according to the official version.

After being hit, Araujo received emergency treatment and was taken to a hospital in the region, but he succumbed to his injuries.
